The Open is Over ... What Now?


The 5 weeks of the CrossFit Open came and went like a hurricane. We had over 100 people participate in our first ever Intramural Open. Not only were Friday nights physically and emotionally draining, but the weekly challenges put out to the teams had members more active than ever. What should we do now that the Open is over?

First - DELOAD! Read our blog on deloading HERE

"Fitness is a lifelong pursuit. Any activity, be it CrossFit, weightlifting, running, triathlons, etc should last us as long as we want. Treat your body well and it will keep you going well into retirement. Think of deloads like oil changes in your car. Doing them regularly keeps your car running smoothly. If you wait too long, you are risking damage!"

Second - Make goals for moving forward.

A lot of people set PRs in the Open and it is AMAZING. First bar muscle ups. More double unders than ever. First chest-to-bar pullups. But there were also just as many frustrations. Toes to bar went slow. Wallballs got devastating. Couldn't squat clean the next weight. Ate poorly before a workout.

Third - Enjoy the process

The reason CrossFitters are so successful in life is because we have a love for learning. We realize there is always more, always something to be better at, always another opportunity. We are never satisfied, never complacent. We love our community, our fellow athletes who share our successes and frustrations, and our Coaches who guide us on our path to health and happiness. And we all know the biggest common denominator - hard work pays off!
