Update: CFS Closing Location - Moving Online! (Temporarily)

As the COVID-19 threat continues to grow, CrossFit Simsbury is taking pre-emptive measures to do our part to help slow the spread of this virus. It is a terrifying threat for a small business to close its doors to an invisible enemy, but as I have often learned throughout my life, the hard choice is usually the right choice. Starting Wednesday, March 18, we will close our physical location at 1285 Hopmeadow St. We plan on staying closed until April 1, however, this is subject to the spread of the virus. It very well may go longer. ** UPDATE - Closing at 730pm TODAY! [Monday]**
While our physical location may be closed, we are set on upholding our promise to help you get healthier, happier, and more fit, while staying connected to the community that inspires us everyday. As many work from home during this time, maintaining your workout routine is crucial to not only your physical health, but mental health as well. So many of us find a positive stress relief from working out, and we want to help everyone we can to reduce their stress during these challenging time.
During the shut-down, we have multiple options for you:
1 - Follow the "At-Home-WOD" programming on Wodify! These will be bodyweight focused workouts, with no equipment needed. We will have our usual scaling options (health, fitness, sport, and competition) as well as the stimulus, points of performance, cooldown stretches, and more, all with linked videos so you can see the movements done correctly and how they should be performed. We HIGHLY encourage you to log your score! This will help keep you motivated and in-touch with the community. Be on the lookout, we will be reaching out to everyone to see how their workouts are going!
2 - Ask for customized, at-home programming. If you have equipment at home, or if you have a specific goal, or specific limitations, shoot us an email to our fresh email address (email@example.com) These custom wods are just like the personal training we do here at CFS, but you will do it in your home. The coach in charge of your programming will reach out to you after you email us, ask you your goals, what you want to achieve, why, and what equipment you have. The coach will email you the workout of the day, and they expect to hear back from you how it went with a report. The more communication during this time, the better the results will be. If you are signed up for 8x/mo membership, we will send you two workouts per week. If you are signed up for 12x/mo membership, we will send you 3 workouts per week. Lastly, if you are on unlimited, we will send you 5-6 workouts per week.
3 - Do you have kids or teens at home? We'll also be posting our Kids & Teens workouts so you can do family fitness at home! This is a great time to share your love of health and fitness with your kids (and get some energy out on a rainy day!)
4 - Goal Setting Sessions are moving online. We recommend every member do a Goal Setting Session every 90 days, just to check in with a coach about how your progress is going, and what we can help improve. Being stuck at home is a great time to schedule a call and chat with a coach! We will either do these on FB Messenger, or a ZOOM call, these details are still being worked out.
5 - Equipment. We will be allowing members to pick one piece of equipment, either a dumbbell or kettlebell, for use during this shutdown. Equipment pickup will be Tuesday, March 17, from 9am to Noon. Supplies are limited, and only DBs or KBs will be going out. 6 - If you need protein, vitamins, or anything else, stock up now. You can pickup anytime today, Monday March 16, or tomorrow, March 17, from 9am to Noon.
7 - We will be moving the "Beginners Guide to 5k" from in-person, to online. This is a FANTASTIC time to learn quality running habits as spring weather approaches and everyone is stuck at home! Stay tuned for more information on this.
As you all know, we are a small locally owned business. If your salary is guaranteed by your employer during this time we’d really appreciate your continued support as we all get through the next few weeks. This will enable us to take care of our coaches, who can then take care of you with remote coaching/accountability. If you’ve been immediately hit financially (e.g. hourly wage/hospitality industry) please talk to us, and we will do our part to help you where we can.
I will finish with this - when I went through Navy SEAL training 13 years ago, I began to learn the motto "The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday". Even though I was progressing through training in one of the military's most difficult schools, each week, each month, seemed to bring greater and greater challenges. At the time, you think you know, you think you get it. But I will tell you this, that saying rings true every day. What challenged me yesterday, last week, last year, pales in comparison to today's challenges. But I remain undeterred. This is just another challenge to overcome, and success in that challenge begins with a mindset and ends with teamwork. My go-to phrase is "I got this". Pick your phrase, stick with your tribe, and continue to crush everything.
